Rally in DC Demands End to Repression of Forest Defenders in Atlanta

  • by

Report on recent rally in Washington DC in solidarity with those facing repression for supporting the movement to defend the Atlanta forest.

On the 28th of March, Shut Down DC protested at the Dept of Justice, demanding a federal investigation into Georgia’s human rights abuses over the Cop City project in the Weelaunee Forest.

Powerful action at the Department of (In)justice last night as we gathered in solidarity with Atlanta forest defenders who are being charged with “domestic terrorism,” some merely for wearing black or having muddy shoes. (Do OUR muddy shoes make us terrorists?) #StopCopCity

At this time, eight attendees at the March 5th music festival there are still being held without bond over muddy shoes or legal support numbers being written on their arms.

At DOJ this eve, activists stood in solidarity w #StopCopCity & enviro activists around the world to say:

We will not be chilled or silenced by your bogus charges or your violence. Free speech & protest are human rights – protected in Weelaunee, at pipelines, everywhere.
