Long Covid has severely weakened my immune system; leading me to get opportunistic infections. As a result, I’ve struggled to earn money as a self-employed, crowdfunded labor reporter. This past winter, I was hospitalized with some complications and have been digging out of a hole financially as a result.
Recently, I hired a health coach and have been working to regain my strength. However, all of this is very expensive. It’s been working and I have been doing some exciting reporting from a strike of 150,000 Brazilian educators to coverage of the shake-up of the leadership within the UAW to coverage of the East Palestine rail derailment.
I had some trouble paying rent earlier this spring. Fortunately, our readers came through for us and I am asking for your help once again as I struggle with Long Covid.
After struggling to pay my rent earlier this year, my landlords have offered to extend my lease on my apartment if I pay my rent on time. I’ve lived in this apartment for five years – it’s cheap and close to the ballpark. I would love to stay, but I am nervous about raising the money.

This past month, Payday celebrated our 7th anniversary, and over 1,000 articles were published. Since Payday’s founding in 2016, we have filed 1006 from 29 different states including 26 dispatches from Brazil during the 2022 Presidential election. Additionally, we have tracked over 2,500 strikes since the pandemic began in March of 2020.
Our work as the first outlet to systematically track the strike wave during the pandemic has been widely recognized by everyone from Washington Post to NPR’s “All Things Considered” to filmmaker Boots Riley. In 2021, our work helping produce CNN’s United Shades of America was nominated for an Emmy.
Please, donate to help us avoid eviction. If by some miracle, these government funds do come through before the hearing next week on April 4th, the remaining money will be used to fund other labor reporting. Also, if we raise more thane needed, the rest will go to
