I am currently considering work around my time as a carer for my Disabled partner.

Related to that, I believe a world beyond capitalism and finance must be one where the only work worth doing can be re-framed as “care,” and therefore that is the kind that interests me. After all, the work we do today can help bring about that better future – and sharing information must be a key part of it, which is why I am a strong believer in the transformative power of media technology.

To that end, I offer several services.

Consultation

With 25 years of experience as a media activist and as a graduate of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, I can help advise on setting up community groups and not-for-profit organisations while choosing the right operational model, considering more democratic ways of working, strategising campaigns, and planning long-term.

Communication

For numerous non-profits and campaign groups I have advised on creating clear messaging, developing an identity, gaining publicity - and have contributed copywriting skills as well. In addition, I have written articles from an anti-capitalist and anti-fascist perspective for many publications and websites about a range of topics, including pop culture, news media, and the limitations of electoral politics. I am also a long-time documentary scriptwriter and producer.

Community facilitation

In addition to public speaking to audiences of hundreds and even thousands at universities, rallies, and festivals around the world, I have facilitated for a range of community groups, from social justice football clubs to multimedia and technology workshops where my approach is to nurture collective, kind and inclusive environments where skills can be gained and shared in a fun, playful way.

Other ways of working with me

Of course, you may just want to have an informal chat with me, or invite me on your podcast. That's fine too. Just drop me a line.
