"Big Tech is not the web. You don’t have to use it nor support it. Blog for the old web, the open web, the indie web — the web you want to see." – David Bushell.

Welcome to my website. I'm Jay Baker (they/he): a photographer, videographer, and guerrilla journalist, who has written for the likes of Freedom NewsOrganise Magazine, defunct projects such as The Scavenger and the award-winning zine La Bouche, and as a contributor to Indymedia in its early days, reporting from protests and picket lines, sit-ins and squats – documenting various anti-fascist political protests and movements, and interviewing the likes of Kate WilsonPrem SikkaTeresa HayterPeter TatchellShami ChakrabartiRichard MurphyKate Pickett and Richard Wilkinson, as well as numerous other campaigners, academics, activists, and unsung heroes of anti-capitalist struggle.

In existence for almost twenty-five years, this site's content documents many of my experiences, and draws on them to offer observations on the world today, through the lens of media. The posts you will find – like my past documentary work – reflect my views and writing style at the time of being written and haven't been sanitised, since this site is a record of who I am and how I've grown as a person, and I take pride in that just as much as I take pride in the praise I've received over the years for accurate observations and predictions on my blog.
